The schematic rock art covers from the Neolithic to the Age of Metals and was the work of people who already knew agriculture and livestock. In hard-to-access caves they continue to paint human figures and very simplified animals, signs, geometric shapes, spots, strokes, … until they reach schemes of reality. This synthesis and abstraction supposed an aesthetic evolution of postpaleolithic naturalist paintings. The interpretation of its meaning and purpose is difficult, that´s why some authors attribute a great symbolic load of religious and ritual type. The schematic style is the most important in the Vero River Cultural Park and is present in the shelters of Mallata, Barfaluy, Gallinero, Regacens, Lecina Superior, etc.
