1 –Radiquero, small town near Alquézar, will be our starting point. Right next to the road, where the bus stop is, we can leave our vehicle. We will take the road towards Adahuesca and when we reach a very closed curve, with animal farms, we will take the track on the right (signposted).

2 – Just past a ravine we will see a crossroads, we will take the one in the center to go to the hermitage of San Fabián. A short time later, we will see the hermitage. Following the road, each time in worse conditions, we will arrive at the ruins of the hermitage of Santa Águeda.

3 – We will leave the hermitage on our left and we will take an ascending path. Later, we will take a path to the left that crosses a first ravine and draw a second for its head, to finally reach the hermitage of the Virgen de Viña.

4 – Arriving at the hermitage we will discover a path that descends from Sevil, we will ascend slightly by it, until we find a path to the left (signposted), that after crossing two ravines for its easiest part, we will descend to cross a third, under the magical geological forms of “Las Capilletas”

5 – We will cross a bridge and then descend almost to the Balcés channel and we will go up the river parallel to it. We will arrive at a strangulation of the river called “Tranco las Olas” and here on a footbridge we will cross to the other side.

6 – Now we will take the path on our right that climbs vertiginously until the pass of the Almunias (signposted).

7 – On the opposite side of the hill appears another path that now in strong descent, will leave us on the road a few meters from Las Almunias de Rodollar

History and culture

The Sierra de Sevil separates the bed of the Vero River and the Isuala River. The upper part of the Isuala basin is called Balcés and there are three sections, Balcés Superior, Oscuros del Balcés and Estrechos del Balcés. The route ascends parallel to the narrows by its orographic left, to descend in the final section of the dark ones, to cross the channel and to go to the valley of Rodellar. The vegetation that we find will be very varied. In the beginning we will walk among fields of cultivation, almond trees and olive trees. The rich sediments of these lowlands are transformed into conglomerates, where oaks, oaks and strawberry trees are mixed with aromatic plants and shrubs. After passing under spectacular rock formations known as the Capilletas, we will enter a stretch of mixed forest, oaks and holm oaks, once cut by charcoal burners, have given way to a riparian vegetation. It is still possible to see the huge circles without vegetation that indicate that there was a coal mine there. We cross the river and the forest becomes an immense pine forest that will accompany us to the Almunias de Rodellar. As for the architectural heritage, we will highlight the hermitages of San Fabián and San Sebastián of the 18th century and the Virgen de la Viña with an annexed mansion. Both of great devotion in the area

Legend (las Abuelas de Sevil)

The Abuelas de Sevil were the last inhabitants of a small town that was in the surroundings of what is now the Mesón de Sevil. After years of plague and death, only they remained as the only survivors and heirs of all the lands of their environment. Without any means to survive, given their age, they decided to go down to the towns in the southern part, but in none of them did they want to accept them as plague victims and fear of contagion. Until they arrived in Adahuesca where they were housed in a hospital. In gratitude and after his death, all the lands of Sevil would become part of the municipal district, as long as the inhabitants of this municipality fulfilled their last three wishes: to remember them every year, distribute charity and a party for children, rituals that continue to be fulfilled in Adahuesca every year
