Sierra de Guara Business Association
THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ASSOCIATION OF BUSINESS OWNERS OF SIERRA DE GUARA (AESG)
Any visitor is deeply struck by the rugged and awe-inspiring landscape of the canyons of the Sierra de Guara, the most striking and iconic geomorphological feature of its renowned Natural Park. But this spectacle, which highlights the erosive power of the mountains’ rivers, is particularly striking in the canyons of the River Vero, where the beauty and spectacle of its river cliffs are complemented by a human presence dating back to prehistoric times.
Founded in June 1993, the Association currently has more than 125 member companies.
Its objectives include promoting the business and tourism interests of its members within the Sierra de Guara region and its surrounding area, as well as fostering marketing and development initiatives for the region.
The Association represents its members in bodies such as the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park Board, the Vero River Cultural Park, the Somontano Development Centre and Adesho.
In 2015, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Natural Park, the Association stepped up its activities, and in 2016, the first cycle tourism product club was launched: BGuara.
In 2023 we are celebrating our 30th anniversary, building on projects such as #saboreaguara (gastronomy), #viveguara (destination) and #yosoyguara (community).
We currently have partnership agreements with the Sobrarbe Geopark and various local councils, and we are part of networks such as MTB Kingdoms and Apatoe Birding Aragón.
If you would like to be part of this collaborative project, we invite you to find out more about the membership process and to get actively involved.
With over 30 years of experience, we know that ‘together we can achieve more’.

Somontano Hire and Employ
A collaborative project that encourages new residents to move to the Somontano region and helps link housing with employment. Its aim is to strengthen the region’s business and social fabric, addressing the need for workers and the demand for housing among those who wish to live and build a life here.
Somontano Rent and Hire is a project designed to attract new residents to the Somontano region and provide staff for local businesses.
Organisers: Barbastro Town Council, the Somontano Region, the Somontano Barbastro Business Association (AESB), the Valle del Cinca Industrial Estate Business Association and the Sierra de Guara Business Association.
The project aims to encourage new residents to move to the area, which, as well as boosting the local population, will help meet the labour needs of businesses based in Barbastro and the surrounding region.
Two main challenges
- Housing shortage: people who wish to live in the area —whether for work, business or quality of life— find it difficult to find somewhere to rent.
- Shortage of workers: companies with vacant positions that cannot be filled due to due to a shortage of suitable candidates or insufficient advertising.
Areas of focus
- Boosting the rental housing market: helping landlords with administrative procedures, funding for energy performance certificates and finding potential tenants.
- Promoting job opportunities: promoting and publicising job vacancies to help connect companies with prospective employees.
