Restaurants

In 2018, the Somontano region was designated as an Area of Gastronomic Interest in Aragon, for the following reasons:

  • For the importance of agri-food production in the area, backed by several quality labels.
  • For the existence of an interesting food culture with genuine products.
  • For the large number and variety of agri-food businesses.
  • For the existence of a wide, dynamic and specialised restaurant offering.
  • For an intense calendar of gastronomy-related events held in Somontano throughout the year.
  • Typical local goat and sheep cheeses that you can pair with artisan jams.
  • Extra virgin olive oil (D.O. Somontano). You won’t want to leave without tasting the local olive varieties from the area: NEGRAL, VERDEÑA AND ALQUEZRANA.
  • Our cured meats and cuts tell a story of history and traditional recipes. Longaniza, chireta, torteta, or marinated salmorejo, and ternasco.
  • Even though we don’t have the sea in the Sierra de Guara, our food offering is no less rich: thanks to our rivers, we have native wild trout that lets us create delicious dishes.
  • Guirlache, pumpkin pastillo, tender mostillo with cream and nuts, toasted or caramelised almonds, Alquézar dobladillo… made following our grandmothers’ recipes, which, just like in the past, are still made by hand today in our ovens—giving us a unique identity and telling our story.
  • In life, everything tastes better with a good drink. Thanks to the D.O. Somontano, the Sierra de Guara has 32 wineries with more than 100 wines to offer, so you can pair your stay with us.

On the Somontano Wine Route you’ll find great architectural works, little treasures, wineries with history, family wineries, old wineries and modern ones, very special wineries—each different—so we recommend you always visit more than one. And of course, book before you come: check the opening times that best suit your needs and book!
