Circular Las Bellostas

The route begins at the entrance to the village of Las Bellostas, where the red and white markings of the GR 1 wind their way through the village towards the exit for Bagüeste and Letosa.

Once you’ve left Las Bellostas behind, the path climbs a few metres before beginning to descend, first to the forest track, which you cross, and then down to the bed of the River Balcés.

As soon as we cross the river, almost on the very same bank, we will find a crossroads of paths. To our left and parallel to the right bank of the river there is marks the path along which we will return and in front of us, following the markings of the GR, we will see the path which climbs towards the left and which we must follow to reach Bagüeste.

After about 1 hour 30 minutes, we arrive in Bagüeste, where the GR trail leads us through the old streets of the village. We pass the parish church on our right and come to a crossroads, where we leave the GR trail to take the turn-off to the left, signposted ‘Las Bellostas via the River Balcés’.

This section of the trail descends to the riverbed and offers stunning views of the cliffs of the Upper Balcés Gorge along the way.

Once at the river, the path back to Las Bellostas continues to the left, following the riverbed upstream until it reaches the point where it crosses the GR trail we had taken earlier; we must take this trail again, this time heading uphill towards Las Bellostas.
