Description

From Huesca city centre, take the road towards Apiés, heading for Sta. Eulalia de la Peña. You will arrive at the car park at the foot of the San Miguel rock (Salto Roldán), where you will find an information board showing the various routes available in the area. Right there, you will begin to spot small bird species amongst the boxwood thickets, such as: black redstart, whinchat, warblers, chiffchaffs, etc.

We will follow a short path that leads us to the south face of the San Miguel rock; from there, you can watch the flight of Griffon Vultures, Egyptian Vultures, Short-toed Eagles, Booted Eagles, and a colony of Red-billed Choughs, as well as enjoying a spectacular view of the Hoya de Huesca.

In March, it is easy to spot cranes as they make their way to their breeding grounds after wintering in the south of the Iberian Peninsula.
