The climb to Tozal de Guara (2,077 m) is the hike most classic of those available in the Nature Reserve. There are various options for making the ascent, both via the north face and via the south.
On this occasion, we have chosen the easiest route, which starts near the village of Santa Cilia de Panzano. From the centre of Santa Cilia, head up the
street leading to the birdwatching hide until you reach the car park a few metres further up. Pass by the cemetery and continue along the track to the open area where you will find the trailhead sign.
The route passes through various spots that are well worth a stop, such as the Fondarrés ponds and the junction with the path leading to the Cubillas Pass.
A few metres further on, the path branches off to the left towards the Vallemona pass, where the trail passes by the Abeles cirque and the Vallemona snow pit.
From here, the route climbs along the ridges to the summit of Tozal de Guara.
