Centre of Rock Art

The Rock Art Centre invites us on a fascinating journey into the prehistory of the River Vero, home to one of the most significant collections of rock shelters featuring prehistoric paintings, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Centre’s various interpretative resources will help us to discover the creative genius of humankind, its beliefs and ways of life over a period of 20,000 years, from the Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age.

The centre is open to all and serves as the starting point for guided tours of the rock-shelter sites in the Río Vero Canyon. The cultural programme is complemented by hands-on workshops on prehistoric painting and hunting, ensuring that all visitors have an enjoyable and informative experience.

Exhibition:
The centre has three exhibition areas:

– The House Museum provides visitors with basic information on rock art, both in general and specifically regarding the River Vero, the cultures that once inhabited the area, the natural surroundings of the rock-shelter sites, the history of the discoveries, and so on…

– The Archaeological Park brings together a collection of prehistoric structures, including life-size replicas of Neolithic huts and burial sites.

– The Cueva Fuente del Trucho visitor centre encapsulates all the mystery of life and art found in the only cave in Aragón to contain Palaeolithic paintings. Thanks to audiovisual displays, reconstructions and models, visitors can gain a deeper insight into the fascinating lives and beliefs of our cave-dwelling ancestors.
