Location. The Roldán Space Jump is an interpretation centre situated on a former olive grove in the village of Sabayés, next to the chapel of the Virgen del Patrocinio.
Opening hours: from Tuesday to Sunday, from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm.
The garden remains open all 365 days of the year 24 hours a day every day, with free entry.
The Roldán Space Jump is also a tourist information point where maps are available and various routes are explained according to difficulty level and theme. It is also a “bike point” where tools are provided for cleaning, repairing and inflating bicycles.
Offers for sale of drinks and coffees and an outdoor terrace area.
Guided tours are available for groups (minimum of 10 people) throughout the whole year by prior arrangement and giving notice, at least, with one week in advance.
Currently, the Espacio Salto de Roldán is hosting a permanent exhibition curated by the art historian Miguel Ortega which we can divide into three parts:
Perception: uses interactive displays and models to explain how we perceive plants through our senses
Plants and information: this section explores how plants interact with animals, how the climate affects them, and how they change over time.
The territory: this section of the exhibition explores the man-made landscape and explains the impact of agriculture and livestock farming on the environment. It also looks at the seven towns within the municipality of Nueno and, finally, focuses on the Roldán Space Jump, highlighting its historical significance and its heritage and cultural value.
We also have two other travelling exhibitions: the first is a nature photography exhibition by the photographer Toño Sánchez, featuring spectacular images of birds, mammals and landscapes. The second is a small selection from the ‘Arbóreo’ exhibition (which has toured throughout Spain, exhibiting at such important venues as the Natural Science Museum in Madrid), which explores the information trees provide us through their growth rings.
It slopes gently towards the south, and from here one can see not only the villages of Sabayés, Arascués and Santa Eulalia, but also Mount Picón, Mount Tiacuto, Mount Gratal, the Hoya de Huesca valley and, of course, the Salto del Roldán.
It is therefore not only the unobstructed views of the surrounding area that make this site the ideal location, but above all the feeling of being at the very heart of the town, connected to the plains as well as the mountains. Despite the sheer size of the area in question, no one had any doubts about the suitability of the chosen site.
